Why 5000K, what does it mean and why do we choose it for our HID conversion kits ?
Why 5000K and what does it mean ?
The 'K' (kelvin) rating is a measurement of the colour of the light, NOT the brightness of the light output. The higher the K value the more blue/purple the light is. On the other hand, the lower the K value the brighter the light.
4300K is a more natural yellowish white,
5000K is a very white colour,
6000K is a very white colour with a slight hue of blue,
8000K is a fairly bluish white light.
Why do we choose it for our HID conversion kits ?
5000K is a good, clean, white light which produces very good contrast. In our opinion and from our experience, this helps in picking up animals against similar coloured backgrounds as we often find when spotlight hunting.
Variation does occur in the colours between HID Bulb manufacturers and from OUR HID Kit manufacturer, the 5000k
was deemed to be the best (and importantly pretty much standard for the 5000k).
6000k is also good, although SOME HID Bulbs from SOME manufacturers can be a bit Blue in colour.
